Farm Manager


The Farm Manager will play an integral role in the growth and development of Lakeview Hill Farm. The ideal candidate will have experience in farming, experience with tractor and hand held tool operation, shows a dedication and has skills in greenhouse and hoophouse production. As a key member of the team, the Farm Manager is expected to inspire the team, engage and promote results, and show commitment to the vision of Lakeview Hill Farm. The ideal candidate will be proficient with Google sheets, record keeping, and have excellent communication skills. 


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two seasons of farm experience or a relevant degree/certificate and one season of farm experience

  • Ability to work on a team or independently 

  • Must be able to work outside throughout all seasons 

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

  • Must have a driver's license and reliable transportation

  • Must have excellent communication skills

  • Must be able to maintain a clean and safe work area


Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in managing part time employees in day to day tasks

  • Harvesting, washing, and packing for farmers markets, retail stores, and restaurants 

  • Weed management and Integrated Pest Management 

  • Assist in watching the farm when owners are away (and take care of cute farm cats!) 

  • Attend farmers markets and help make deliveries in Traverse City and Leelanau county 

  • Assist in  crop planning, planting, and managing greenhouses 

  • Assist in building and maintaining irrigation systems, farm infrastructure, and greenhouses



This is a salaried position, varies DOE $28,000 - $32,000. Must be willing to work an average of 50 hours a week in high season and an average of 30 hours a week in the Winter with 3 paid weeks off during February.
